CHOPTA, UTTARAKHAND (Hidden Marvel)

Chopta is a beautiful hill station in Uttarakhand, known for its scenic beauty and peaceful environment. The town offers visitors a chance to relax .One of the hidden gems in India, also known as Mini Switzerland of India. Nestled in the Himalayas, Chopta offers pristine and clear views of the Nanda Devi, Trishul and Chaukhamba peaks. It is particularly known for being home to the five most sacred temples dedicated to Lord Shiva – also known as Panch Kedar.

SPITI VALLEY, HIMACHAL PRADESH (Best-kept secret)

Spiti valley, peace, nature

Another hidden gem of India is Spiti Valley. Spiti valley is famous for its natural beauty and cultural heritage. Tabo monastery is one of the most prominent attractions in Spiti. The monasteries in Spiti are renowned for spectacular murals, ancient temples, and several stupas. June to October is a good time to visit Spiti Valley. This is usually a rain shadow region and monsoon would not impact the region that much. However weather in the hills is unpredictable and there could be few cases of flooding in the nallahs (water flowing through the roads) in some areas.

GOKARNA, KARNATAKA (Hidden Gem)

Gokarna’s main temple, Mahabaleshwara, is dedicated to Shiva. The temple houses what is believed by some to be the earliest Shiva lingam (Atmalinga). Gokarna is known as one of seven important centers of pilgrimage in Hinduism. It lies on what was once an unspoiled coastline at the estuary of the River Aghanashini.

MAWLYNNONG, MEGHALAYA (Underrated spot)

Mawlynnong is known for its cleanliness. The waste collected in the dustbins made of bamboo is directed to a pit and then used as manure. The travel magazine Discover India declared the village as the cleanest in Asia in 2003, and the cleanest in India in the year 2005. Mawlynnong is another hidden gem in India, you must visit this place and admire it’s nature. There are no hotels here – luxury or otherwise. In my opinion, Mawlynnong does not offer much to see and do and a walk through the village would suffice, hence there is no need to stay overnight. For food, a couple of restaurants are available, offering a simple, limited menu, but homestays would offer food, too.

DOODHPATHRI, KASHMIR (Rare Find)

The name “doodpathri” means Valley of Milk. It is said that the famous saint of Kashmir Sheikh ul Aalam Sheikh Noor din Noorani has prayed here and once when he was in search of water in the meadows, to offer prayers, he pricked the ground with his stick to search for water and milk came out. One of the finest hidden gem in India, which people often miss in planning of there trip.
In winter the meadows of doodhpathri remains covered under thick blanket of snow. The months from April to September is the best time to visit doodhpathri. From November to February you can enjoy snowfall in doodhpathri. It is absolutely safe to visit doodhpathri , you can visit doodhpathri at any time of the year.
